WHAT IS CREEK RAT

What is Creek Rat? Denn Tezzier, the owner of Creek Rat, named the Brand after his love for time spent as a Kid at the Creek in Topanga Canyon and on the Southern California Coastline. Historically, a Creek Rat is what we called ourselves who hung out down at the Creek. Topanga Creek originates in the Santa Monica Mountains in Los Angeles County California and drains directly down to the beach on the Pacific Ocean south of Malibu. Topanga Creek is one of the few remaining waterways in the area without dams and is a spawning ground for Southern California Steelhead Trout. Denn Tezzier, being a Creek Rat Kid in Topanga, was also known as a local artist creating and selling Commerical Art since the 1960's. The Canyon newspaper of the day, The Topanga Messenger, approached Denn to create a comic strip for publication in the newspaper, and Denn conceived the Creek Rat Brand. The Creek Rat Cartoons Comic Strip is still published to this day.
